Bremelanotide (a laboratory code is PT-141) is a metabolite of Melanotan 2 without amide C-terminal. The drug is similar to Melanotan; it also increases the production of melanin, but the main task of the drug is treatment of erectile dysfunction and sexual disorders.

As PT-141 is a synthetic peptide, it acts on the central nervous pathways that control the appearance of sexual desire, unlike PDE5 inhibitors that affect the vascular receptors. Therefore, PT-141 causes erection and not only strengthens it.

Using PT-141 (Bremelanotide) has the following main effects:

• Improves potency;
• Increases sexual desire;
• Strengthens erection;
• Increases tanning (due to stimulating the production of melanin by melanocytes).

PT-141 should be injected subcutaneously or rear intramuscularly. Intranasal use of the drug is not recommended, since in this case, increase of blood pressure is possible that is excluded with injections.

The average single dose is 1 mg.

The effect develops within two hours after injection and reaches its peak in three or four hours.

The duration of the effect is maintained for 8-10 hours.
