Melanotan 2 is a synthetic analogue of the naturally occurring melanocortin peptide hormone α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) that in usage has been shown to produce melanogenesis (part of the tanning process that produces darkening pigmentation in the skin) and have aphrodisiac effects in preliminary studies and clinical trials.

The drug is used to gain pharmacological tanning and treatment of erectile dysfunction and loss of appetite. Action of this peptide is 1,000 times more powerful than the action of melanocortin.

Melanotan-2 is used as a protective agent that decreases sensitivity to sunlight and reduces the risk of a UV radiation (for example, it may be at risk of developing true solar urticaria, melanoma and other diseases in which the sunlight is extremely harmful). In everyday life the Melanotan-2 is used as a fastest remedy for achieving tan, regardless to time of the season. It is recommended to visit a solarium or take a tan to accelerate the pigmentation.

Sublingual administration route has a high level of bioavailability that makes 98% out of injection administration route. Numerous clinical studies confirmed the highest effectiveness of sublingual administration route.

Main functions provided by Melanotan-2:

  • Prevents skin cancer.
  • Causes skin pigmentation due to creation of melanin (pharmacological tan).
  • Helps to lose weight by reducing appetite.
  • Increases libido and strengthens erection (within 2 hours after the first injection).

The libido increasing effect was discovered during clinical trials, and currently, Melanotan is used for treatment of problems with potency.

No side effects were detected under the compliance of recommended dose. Overdose may cause such side effects as: nausea and the appearance of dark spots on the skin (usually disappear upon completion of dosing).
